Key Responsibilities:Lead and execute substation primary and secondary design for HV/MV networks.Prepare single-line diagrams, schematics, protection settings, equipment specifications, and BOMs.Perform load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.Provide technical support during procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning.Ensure that designs comply with NESC, IEC, IEEE, SANS, or other relevant standards.Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and technical audits for ongoing projects.Coordinate with utilities, EPC contractors, and other engineering disciplines.Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and project documentation.Minimum Requirements:Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc or equivalent).Professional registration (Pr Eng).Minimum 510 years experience in HV/MV substation design and engineering.Proven experience with 132kV400kV, and 11kV33kV systems (depending on region).Proficiency in design and analysis tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.Strong knowledge of substation equipment (transformers, switchgear, protection relays, CTs/VTs, control and protection panels).Excellent communication, report-writing, and project coordination skills.
