Job Summary:The Commercial Diver will use scuba gear to work below the water to inspect underwater equipment and structures.Duties/Responsibilities:Performs underwater search and rescue, salvage, recovery, or cleanup operations.Inspects and maintains diving equipment, such as helmets, masks, air tanks, harnesses, and gauges.Ensures appropriate safety measures are taken; monitors dive lengths and depths.Uses underwater cameras and other equipment to inspect and record condition of docks, ships, buoy systems, and underwater pipelines and cables.Takes photographs and gathers test samples to evaluate condition of vessels or structures; recovers salvageable ships, parts, or cargo.Installs footings and pilings for piers or bridges and repairs ships, bridges, or other structures below the waterline.Recovers sunken objects using cranes or winches.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:Mastery in use of diving equipment such as scuba gear, air tanks, helmets, gauges, diving suits, and masks.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication skills.Ability to use still and video cameras.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Successful completion of an accredited commercial diver course required.3 - 5 years of related experience highly preferred.Physical Requirements:Must be able to dive into waters at all depths, temperatures, and visibility conditions.Must be able to remain underwater for prolonged periods of time.Must be able to lift 12kgs at a time.
