ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE TRANSNET BARGAINING COUNCIL The Transnet Bargaining Council is undergoing a reconfiguration process, namely, from being a single employer bargaining council to one that will be a multi-employer bargaining council. Currently, the only employer that is a party to the council is the state owned company, Transnet. The Council’s General Secretary is the Accounting Officer and is its Chief Executive Officer. It is an inherent requirement of the job that the General Secretary must be independent, impartial and must have unquestionable character and integrity. Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for this senior position. Minimum requirements, qualifications and other attributes required are:Non-negotiable minimum requirements1. A bachelor’s degree in human resources and/or law and/or business administration.2. A minimum of 10 years’ experience at senior management level in the private or public sector3. A thorough understanding of South African labour legislation4. Financial planning, budget, and strategy development – fully financially literate5. Strong leadership skills with proven results6.
