Our client, is recruiting for an experienced Insurance Surveyor to be based in the KZN region.
The primary purpose of the role will be to perform surveys on behalf of the company to prevent the company from taking on possible undesirable risks therefore protecting the company from any financial exposure.
The day-to-day operational tasks will include but not be limited to:
* Conduct a minimum of 20 surveys on average per month.
* Evaluate survey requests received to ensure the risk is within our risk appetite and where required, arrange appointments with the relevant brokers and clients.
* Ensure relevant documentation is provided prior to conducting the survey and request any prior surveys (if applicable) from the underwriting department.
* Conduct surveys in accordance to SOP as required taking into consideration and risks regarding:
* Fire
* Structures
* Conveyor systems
* Cold Storage Practices
* Agriculture and Mining Operations
* Type of Occupancy (National Building Regulation Classification)
* Processes
* Security
* Environmental risks
* Visit sites and properties to gather information, assessing the possible hazards and the nature of risks.
* Ensure all companies health and safety procedures or systems are acceptable
* Liaise with brokers and health and safety inspectors as required.
* Write clear and accurate survey reports in accordance to the companies prcedures.
* Advising the Underwriters on whether or not to insure and one risk and to provide what conditions to apply per survey.
* Keep up to date with different aspects affecting risk, such as changes in health and safety legislation.
* Should any planned survey appointments be altered, for any reason whatsoever, to communicate such changed surveys to Manager: Surveying Services to mitigate the risk of surveys being missed.
* After the detailed survey has been conducted, write the associated survey report and communicate via email and/or telephonically any major concerns regarding the clients or any possible risks that could negatively impact the business to the Manager: Surveying or alternatively any Manager within the Underwriting department.
* Ensure effective communication is followed, should any circumstance change with regards to conducting surveys and communicate directly with the Manager: Surveying and/or relevant Underwriting Manager either telephonically, via email or whatsapp.
* Manage all financial costs in the case of travel and adhere to budgets and procedures regarding expense claims and monthly fuel spend.
* Adhere to all system requirements for submission and communication of surveys as required.
* Attend all training and skills development as required by the company from time to time.
