Chief Mechanical Engineer: Antennas

We are seeking an accomplished Chief Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership across complex mechanical systems within our defence programmes. This is a senior role suited to an engineer with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capability, and proven experience delivering high-reliability products in regulated environments.
You will lead mechanical design strategy, mentor engineering teams, and act as the mechanical authority across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and governance for all mechanical engineering activities
• Own mechanical architecture and design decisions for complex defence systems
• Lead and review detailed mechanical designs, analyses, and design documentation
• Ensure compliance with defence standards, quality processes, and regulatory requirements
• Mentor and develop mechanical engineering teams
• Drive best practices in design, verification, and validation
• Interface with systems, electrical, RF, manufacturing, and programme teams
• Support customer, supplier, and stakeholder technical engagements

Required Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years experience in mechanical engineering roles
• Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Defence industry experience strongly preferred
• Proven experience leading mechanical design on complex, safety- or mission-critical products
• Strong understanding of:
  
  • Mechanical design principles and materials
  • Manufacturing processes and production readiness
  • Environmental qualification (vibration, thermal, shock)
• Experience working within structured engineering lifecycles and configuration control
