The Medical Technologist will be based at Life Fourways Hospital and will have a responsibility to perform and analyse biohazardous laboratory samples such as blood, swabs or body fluids, in order to provide results for medical practitioners to diagnose and treat patients. Medical Technologists are also responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment used to analyse specimens and ensuring that tests are completed accurately in a correct and timely manner, while abiding to Good Laboratory practice and Quality Assurance measures. The Medical Technologist on site will perform duties as a Tech in Charge at the facility and will report to the Hospital Manager.
*Core Duties*
* Perform conventional and point of care diagnostic testing procedures
* Review and verify the patient results
* Maintain all lab equipment through the scheduling of necessary services with vendors
* Perform daily, weekly, monthly maintenance, QC and calibration procedures to be on equipment
* Adhere to good housekeeping, GLP, follow safety protocols
* Monitoring asset management, stock, services from vendor
* Reporting and recording of incidents/ adverse events, root cause analysis, resolution
* Schedule monthly staff roster
* Upkeep of the laboratory

* Release of verified results from LIS system for report dissemination to Patient and Drs
* Performs all required maintenance, quality control, calibrations, troubleshooting procedures of the equipment in the lab on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. QC results are recorded and reviewed, record necessary corrective action
* Ensure the Ag test kits are QC’ed, Genexpert and Seegene stations are maintained and ready for use every morning. Fridge, freezer temperatures are monitored daily
* Monitor and maintain the quality assurance programs and activities to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results
* Ensures required service maintenance of machines
