Key Responsibilities:Contractual Support & Product Development:Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of legal documents including investment management agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), LISP SLAs, client-facing documents, product terms, marketing material, and data agreements.Provide reliable legal support for various initiatives and projects, including the launch of new products and portfolios.Collaborate confidently within multi-disciplinary project teams, including tax, marketing, compliance, and IT.Ensure efficient management of contracts through the entire contract lifecycle and support continuous template improvements.Legal Advisory & Queries:Advise internal stakeholders on legal matters, contracting, service and product queries, and the implementation of legislation.Provide legal advice on operational processes and conduct legal research to deliver commercially focused opinions.Legal Risk Management, Governance & Compliance:Monitor, identify, and report on legal risks, legislative developments, and emerging risks in projects, policies, and systems.Work closely with regulatory compliance and risk teams to manage regulatory changes and embed a culture of good governance.Assist in implementing internal controls to mitigate legal risk.Support training initiatives regarding legal and regulatory updates. RequirementsEducation: LLB Degree. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation is advantageous.Certification: Admitted Attorney.Experience: 35 years of post-admission legal experience, preferably within a LISP or wealth management business.Specialised Knowledge: Strong knowledge of wealth platforms, retail and retirement investments, and financial products.Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of South African financial sector laws including FAIS, FICA, CISCA, the Insurance Act, the Pension Funds Act, and POPIA.Drafting Skills: Notable experience in contract drafting.Desired Competencies:Meticulously detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Exceptional legal and contract drafting skills.Adaptable and resilient in the face of change and uncertainty.Ability to embrace and implement legal and financial technology solutions.Strong
