The Faculty of Law is looking to fill a vacancy in the Department of Private Law. The main responsibility of the incumbent will be to contribute to excellence in the Faculty of Law. The incumbent will lecture primarily in the field of Childrens Rights and Family Law, but will also assume further teaching responsibilities within the Department and Faculty, taking into account relevant factors. The incumbent will furthermore conduct research that focuses on Childrens Rights and/or Family Law and provide postgraduate supervision that focuses on one or both of these areas. The incumbent must also contribute to the administrative functioning of the Faculty, and perform other duties as assigned by the Faculty.
The Department of Private Law is responsible for teaching several of the core modules in the LLB curriculum. This includes the Law of Persons, Family Law, African Customary Law, Law of Succession, Property Law, Law of Civil Procedure, Law of Contract, Law of Delict and Specific Contracts. The Department also offers various electives at final year level and a selection of modules at postgraduate level, including modules which focus on Family Law and Childrens Rights. The Department also has a strong focus on research within these fields as well as other private law areas.

Die Regsfakulteit beskik oor n vakature in die Departement Privaatreg. As hoofverantwoordelikheid sal die posbekle•r n bydrae moet maak tot uitnemendheid in die Regsfakulteit. Die posbekle•r sal prim•r in die gebied van Kinderreg en Familiereg doseer, maar sal ook verdere onderrigverpligtinge binne die Departement of Fakulteit moet opneem, met inagneming van toepaslike faktore. Die posbekle•r sal voorts navorsing moet doen wat fokus op Kinderreg en/of Familiereg en nagraadse begeleiding moet verskaf wat fokus op een of beide van hierdie areas. Die posbekle•r sal ook moet bydra tot die administratiewe funksionering van die Fakulteit, asook ander take verrig soos deur die Fakulteit toegewys.
Die Departement Privaatreg is verantwoordelik vir die onderrig van verskeie van die kern-modules in die LLB-kurrikulum. Dit sluit in Personereg, Familiereg, Afrika Gewoontereg, Erfreg, Sakereg, Siviele Prosesreg, Kontraktereg, Deliktereg en Spesifieke Kontrakte. Die Departement bied ook verskeie keuse-modules op finalejaar-vlak aan en n keuse van modules op nagraadse vlak, insluitende modules wat fokus op Familiereg en Kinderreg. Die Departement het ook n sterk fokus op navorsing binne hierdie gebiede asook ander privaatreg-areas.•
