Responsibilities and job descriptionThe Laboratory Technician will be responsible for the following responsibilities, among others:Conduct quality control testing on raw materials and finished paintsMeasure viscosity (KU/Brookfield), density, solids, gloss, and colourPrepare laboratory batches and drawdown panelsAssist with paint and coating formulation trialsMaintain laboratory records and prepare test reportsAssist in investigation of product complaints and technical issuesEnsure laboratory equipment is maintained and calibratedFollow ISO 9001 laboratory procedures and safety standardsCarrying out instructions as provided by senior management of the Company2. Minimum Requirements for the positionCandidates are required to meet the following criteria to be considered for this role:2.1 Compulsory (inherent) requirements:South African citizen with valid South African IDDiploma or Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Technology, or related fieldMinimum 3 years laboratory experience (paint/coatings industry advantageous)Basic understanding of coating test methodsGood attention to detail and record keepingAbility to work independently and within a team2.2 The following further requirements will assist your application further:Proven ability to self-motivate and show initiativeAbility to work independently without constant supervision or assistanceAbility to show tangible results3.
