The RoleThe successful candidate will take full accountability for the daily manufacturing plan, ensuring that production targets are achieved on time, within budget, to required quality standards, and in a safe working environment.This role is responsible for overseeing the effective conversion of raw materials into finished goods through optimal utilisation of machinery, systems, and people. You will play a key role in aligning production outputs with broader business objectives of efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability.Key focus areas include:Driving attainment of daily production targets and accurate reporting of planned vs actual outputLeading and motivating production teams to deliver high performanceImplementing and championing Lean manufacturing, 5S, and waste reduction initiativesEnsuring compliance with all internal policies, BCEA, LRA, Bargaining Council Main Agreements, and OHS legislationManaging performance, training, multiskilling, and workforce planningPartnering with Maintenance to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are executedManaging raw material yield and reducing operational wasteEmbedding a strong quality culture aligned to Do it Right the First Time principlesEnsuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and emergency proceduresRequirementsGrade 12 / Matric (essential)Tertiary qualification in a Production-related disciplinePost-matric qualification in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (advantageous)Minimum 7 years experience in a middle management role within a manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principlesProficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel essential)Syspro experience advantageousCompetenciesStrong leadership and team-building capabilityStrategic and commercial awarenessSound analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and influencing abilityEffective planning and performance managementCoaching mindset with the ability to develop and upskill teamsThis opportunity offers the chance to lead a critical production function within a well-established manufacturing environment where operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement are key drivers of success.If you are a hands-on Production Leader with a passion for operational efficiency and people development, we invite you to submit your CV for consideration.
