Description
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers and CAD staff, ensuring that all electrical and instrumentation projects meet the highest technical standards. The role involves oversight of design quality, ISO compliance, feasibility studies, tender preparation, and project execution from concept through commissioning. The successful candidate will also play a strategic role in advancing engineering practices and developing standards for new technologies and markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor electrical and instrumentation engineering teams
- Approve and sign off detailed MV and LV electrical designs
- Develop and implement engineering standards and specifications
- Oversee project feasibility, tender scoping, and client interface
- Manage project budgets, costing, forecasting, and reporting
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project inputs (electrical, control, mechanical, civil)
- Conduct HAZOP reviews and ensure ISO/quality compliance
- Perform power systems modelling and technical reviews (ETAP or similar)
- Oversee commissioning, installation quality, and final handover
- Contribute to innovation and R&D within the engineering division
Minimum Requirements
- BEng or BTech in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- ECSA Registered Professional (PrEng/PrTechEng)
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience, including 3 years in a senior/leadership role
- Experience in medium-voltage design, instrumentation, and commissioning
- Proficiency with tools such as ETAP, SolidWorks, and TIA Portal
- Strong knowledge of ISO standards, NEC contract structures, and EPCM environments
- Proven ability to manage project deliverables, teams, and stakeholder relationships
