Financial Accountant

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and audit packs.
• Manage month-end and year-end reporting processes.
• Prepare journals, reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger.
• Ensure VAT, PAYE, Income Tax and statutory compliance.
• Analyse financial performance, budgets, forecasts, and variances.
• Maintain fixed asset, inventory and investment registers.
• Monitor intercompany loans and reconciliations.
• Liaise with auditors, financial institutions and key stakeholders.
• Review accounting processes and recommend improvements to internal controls.
• Mentor and support junior finance staff.

Qualification Requirements:

• BCom Accounting degree (essential).
• SAICA or SAIPA articles completed (essential).
• BCom Honours or professional registration will be advantageous.

Experience Requirements:

• 12 years' post-articles experience in a Financial Accountant role.
• Strong experience with financial reporting, month-end processes, and statutory compliance.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with exposure to financial statement preparation.

Job-Specific Non-Negotiables:

• Strong knowledge of VAT, PAYE, Income Tax and South African financial legislation.
• Ability to prepare annual financial statements and work confidently with external auditors.

ERP System Requirements:

• CaseWare Working Papers (essential).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (essential).
• Experience working on integrated ERP/accounting systems will be advantageous.
