Data Analyst

A data-driven organisation undergoing a transition to a modern Microsoft Azure data infrastructure is seeking a Data Operations Analyst to own the ingestion, processing, validation, and quality management of business-critical data.

This role sits at the core of the data ecosystem and works closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and technical teams to ensure that all reporting and analytics are built on accurate, consistent, and reliable data foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect data from multiple internal and external sources (files, APIs, system exports, manual submissions)
• Prepare, process, and ingest data into SQL-based databases
• Cleanse, standardise, and transform raw data into structured formats
• Map data to existing schemas and business definitions
• Apply business rules and transformation logic consistently
• Validate data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness
• Identify and resolve data quality issues at source
• Implement validation checks and reconciliation processes
• Support migration of data workflows to Microsoft Azure
• Work directly with SQL databases for querying, validation, and maintenance
• Maintain documentation, data mappings, and data dictionaries
• Support automation initiatives and process improvement
• Provide trusted datasets for reporting, dashboards, and analytics teams

Job Experience and Skills Required:
Education:

• Degree in Maths, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

• 2+ years experience in data operations, data analytics, systems support, business intelligence, or data support roles.

Core Skills:

• Strong SQL skills (queries, joins, validation, reconciliation)
• Data cleansing, transformation, and visualization
• Experience working with raw, messy, or unstructured data
• Familiarity with ETL / ELT processes and data pipelines
• Advanced Excel (Power Query experience advantageous)

Advantageous Skills:

• Microsoft Azure (Azure SQL, Data Factory, Blob Storage, Synapse)
• Power BI or other business intelligence/reporting tools
• Basic Python or scripting for automation
• Knowledge of data governance

Soft Skills:

• Highly detail-oriented and process-driven
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Organised, methodical, and able to manage multiple tasks
• Clear communicator with both technical and business stakeholders
• Comfortable working under deadlines and handling large datasets
