The SA Steelworks Rolling Mill team requires a committed, hardworking and trustworthy Roller to join their team. The Roller is responsible for ensuring high levels of production, high quality standards and that machinery on the roller stands are operating smoothly.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Work closely with Mill Supervisor and execute all necessary tasks within stipulated timeframes.Will be responsible for machinery in the Rolling Mill department and ongoing efficiency with regards to bar rolling.Supervise all Roller staff, processes and functions.Will be responsible for the operation of the rolling floor (Parameter settings, Training of staff, Staff assessments, etc)Operation of the main roller stands and all related machinery.Interpret, plan and implement cleaning & maintenance schedules on the stands. (Housekeeping)Quality control according to desired standards.Ensure down time is used effectively in all areas.Compile status feedback report on stands.Ensure shift handover is conducted thoroughly and that all issues are reported clearly.
Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:
Matric with Maths and ScienceMechanical background with 4 years’ experience working in a similar environmentMust be computer literate (Excel, word, outlook)Ability to meet rolling targets set by operational requirementsAbility to work under pressure in a demanding environmentStrong communication / reporting skills with the ability to work closely with Mill ForemanAbility to analyze potential failures and communicate accordingly with possible solutions.
