Senior Network Engineer - L3 or L4 - Contract - On

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their team. This critical role involves managing and optimizing our network infrastructure, which connects the Trading Desk to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of various network protocols and designs and will be instrumental in ensuring the robustness and efficiency of our network.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of our network infrastructure.
• Understand and manage the current data flows and protocols used within the bank.
• Ensure network redundancy and optimization to maintain system reliability and performance.
• Manage multicast control and data plane processes to ensure efficient network traffic handling.
• Coordinate and work closely with the Trading Desk and other stakeholders to ensure seamless connectivity to the JSE.
• Identify potential network issues and implement proactive measures to prevent disruptions.

Required Qualifications

• Network Engineering certification CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience with IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) across all versions.
• Strong understanding of PIM (Protocol Independent Multicasting) protocols across all versions.
• Proficient in multicast addressing, including IP addressing.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a critical environment connecting trading systems to financial exchanges.
• Background in managing network environments within global markets.

Environment Background

The Senior Network Engineer will be working within a critical environment that connects the Trading Desk to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). This environment is divided into three primary areas:

• Global Markets environment
• Trading Desk environment
• JSE connectivity environment
