Quality Assurance Engineer

Department: Africa Region Operations Software Engineering

As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will define and execute test strategies across features, services, and customer journeys to ensure high-confidence releases within an Agile environment.

Qualification and Experience

• Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• ISTQB-aligned knowledge, fintech/payments domain exposure, and experience in continuous delivery environments.
• 46 years for Intermediate level; 710+ years for Senior level, with meaningful automation ownership.
• Practical knowledge of the full SDLC, version control (Git), and data-driven API testing (payloads, contracts, and error handling).
• Familiarity with web application security testing guidance such as OWASP WSTG and ASVS.
• Ability to break down ambiguous requirements into clear test conditions and risk assessments.
• Strong ability to report quality status and release readiness to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Adaptable and resilient in fast-paced environments.
• Passionate about innovation and staying updated on industry trends.
• Collaborative mindset for effective cross-functional teamwork

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy & Planning: Create and maintain test plans, cases, and evidence aligned with delivery cadences.
• Execution: Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across web, mobile, and backend components.
• Automation: Establish and grow API, UI, and service-level automation; integrate these into CI/CD pipelines.
• Security & Compliance: Partner with engineering to validate security controls (OWASP-aligned) and ensure compliance with payment industry standards (PCI DSS).
• Non-Functional Testing: Drive performance, reliability, and observability validation.
• Defect Management: Manage the full defect lifecycle, including triage, root-cause analysis, and verification.
