Image Engineer (Endpoint Build & Deployment)

The Image Engineer is responsible for the design, creation, maintenance, versioning, and global distribution of standard desktop and laptop images across the organisation. This role ensures that all endpoint devices are built in a consistent, secure, compliant, and repeatable manner, aligned with agreed standards and client requirements.

The Image Engineer owns the end-to-end operating system deployment (OSD) lifecycle, including task sequences, drivers, firmware alignment, base application sets, security baselines, and deployment automation.

The current environment is based on SCCM/MECM with PXE boot for on-premise and staging deployments. The role will evolve toward cloud-native deployment models, primarily Windows Autopilot with Intune, supporting Zero-Touch provisioning and modern workplace transformation.
This role is critical to enabling hardware refresh programmes, mass deployments, break-fix rebuilds, regional rollouts, and global standardisation.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
• Equivalent practical experience will be considered

Experience

• 37 years experience in Desktop Engineering, Imaging, or Endpoint Deployment roles
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• • SCCM/MECM OSD
  • PXE boot environments
  • Task Sequences and Boot Images
• Experience managing enterprise-scale hardware fleets (multiple vendors and models)
• Exposure to Windows Autopilot and Intune-based provisioning is strongly advantageous
• Experience in large enterprise or MSP environments preferred

Technical Skills

• SCCM / MECM OSD & Task Sequences
• PXE boot & Deployment Points
• Windows 10 / Windows 11 deployment and upgrade strategies
• Driver and firmware management
• PowerShell scripting (deployment automation, validation, remediation)
• Active Directory & Azure AD fundamentals
• Networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, PXE)
• Familiarity with Intune & Autopilot concepts

Certifications (Preferred / Advantageous)

• Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
