SHIFT MANAGER / TEAM LEADER (FRONT OF HOUSE)

We are looking for a strong, hands-on Shift Manager to lead service and manage the front-of-house team during daily operations while .
This role is responsible for running shifts efficiently, maintaining standards, and acting as the direct communication link between the crew and the General Manager.
Role PurposeTo ensure every shift runs smoothly, service is fast and friendly, and standards are consistently maintained. You are responsible for leading the team on duty and reporting operational performance to the GM.
Key ResponsibilitiesShift Leadership
Open and close the restaurant according to procedure
Run service including drinks during peak periods or when neccessary
Manage third party- delivery apps
Ensure speed of service targets are met
Maintain floor presence throughout the shift
Team Management
Supervise and support front-of-house staff
Allocate positions and manage break schedules
Address performance issues immediately
Train new team members on service standards
Maintain team morale and accountability
Communication Link to GM
Report daily sales, staff issues, and service challenges
Communicate stock shortages or operational problems
Provide feedback on team performance
Escalate serious customer complaints
Ensure GM instructions are implemented correctly by the team
Customer Service
Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
Ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are upheld
Monitor guest experience and intervene where needed
Operational Control
Oversee cash handling and POS accuracy
Assist with stock counts and basic inventory checks
Ensure hygiene and safety procedures are followed
1+ years experience in a busy restaurant environment
Previous supervisory or team leader experience
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to stay calm under pressure
Strong sense of responsibility and accountability
Must be available on weekends and evenings Standard shifts 10:00-22:00 - Max 60 hrs per week
Legally allowed to work in RSA
Available immediately
This position requires someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, and takes ownership of their shift.
