Data & BI Support Analyst

Job Title: Data & BI Support Analyst
Reports to (Superior): (BI) Manager

Job Purpose:
Work closely with the Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to transform raw, multisource data into reliable, timely, and actionable insights. This role blends strong data fundamentals with modern AI-assisted analysis to accelerate delivery of dashboards, reports, and decision support.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualification ( Degree/Diploma in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer Science or related field)
  • 2–4 years in a Data Analyst role supporting BI/reporting, ideally in operations or service environments.

Skills & Knowledge

Required:

  • SQL (intermediate to advanced): joins, aggregations, etc.
  • Power BI: data modelling, DAX, Power Query; dashboard UX and performance optimisation.
  • Excel (advanced): Pivot Tables, Power Query, data cleaning techniques.
  • Nice to have: AI tool proficiency: Copilot/ChatGPT or similar for insight generation; prompt engineering best practices and result validation.
  • Nice to have: Think-Cell
  • Analytical storytelling: turning data into clear narratives and recommendations.
  • Awareness of data governance and privacy (e.g., POPIA).
  • Exposure to Python or suitable alternatives to enable report automation.

Key performance indicators KPIs

  • On-time delivery of dashboards/reports against SLAs.
  • Data quality metrics: completeness, accuracy, reconciliation rates.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction scores and adoption of dashboards.
  • Measured impact of AI-assisted insights (time saved, decision quality
