The company operates within the transport and logistics sector. It manages a vehicle fleet and maintains an internal workshop for vehicle maintenance and repairs.

The Role: Senior Fleet Controller
The Senior Fleet Controller is responsible for the efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of the vehicle fleet. This role exists to ensure optimal fleet utilisation, compliance with legislation, on-time deliveries, and high service levels through the coordination of drivers, workshop personnel, customers, and management. The position focuses on operational control, driver management, and the leadership of junior fleet controllers.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize a minimum of 5 years of fleet control or transport operations experience to manage daily movements.

• Plan and allocate vehicles and drivers according to operational requirements, load specifications, and legal limits.

• Monitor vehicle tracking systems and respond to delays, incidents, fuel consumption, and maintenance costs.

• Manage driver schedules, routes, and compliance with road traffic laws and rest periods.

• Coordinate preventive maintenance, servicing, and repairs with the workshop to maximize vehicle availability.

• Supervise and mentor junior fleet controllers while maintaining accurate operational records.

• Communicate delivery status to customers and resolve operational issues professionally.

About You

• Grade 12 (Matric).

• Minimum of 5 years fleet control or transport operations experience.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, reporting, and fleet tracking systems.

• Knowledge of transport legislation and compliance.

• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with after-hours availability.

• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans.

• Strong leadership, decision-making, planning, and conflict management skills.

• Diploma or Certificate in Transport Management or Logistics (advantageous).

• At least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role (preferred).
