This role is ideal for a strong leader with solid mechanical and fabrication knowledge who can drive performance, quality, and team development in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities & AuthoritySelect and develop the right people to build a strong, effective and balanced teamManage and coordinate subordinates by setting clear expectations, assigning tasks and monitoring performancePlan, manage and coordinate production activities and drive continuous improvement initiativesEnsure production targets are achieved in line with business objectivesTake full authority to stop production when processes are out of control or not meeting specificationsMaintain quality standards by monitoring output, recording performance and reducing scrap and re-workSign off on first-off samples, setup approvals and inspection reportsReport department performance and production results to ManagementEnsure sufficient resources are available and that all equipment is maintained in good working orderLiaise with project managers and other departments to ensure seamless production flowUphold company values, vision, policies, procedures and systemsDiscipline, coach and counsel employees in line with company policiesEnsure production staff are properly trained, skilled and continuously developedMaintain a safe, clean and compliant working environment in line with health and safety legislationDrive good housekeeping standards within the departmentMaintain positive employee relations, including engagement with relevant unions Minimum RequirementsProven experience in a fabrication or manufacturing supervisory/management roleFabrication manager with fabrication and welding experience and skills (preferably artisan/red seal qualified)Strong knowledge of fabrication machinery and equipmentSound understanding of structural steel componentsMechanical Engineering knowledge and practical experienceStrong planning, organising and analytical skillsExcellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skillsStrong problem-solving and conflict resolution skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyComputer literacyAbility to meet deadlines and perform effectively in a pressurised environment What Were Looking ForWe are looking for a hands-on leader who:Builds and motivates high-performing teamsLeads by example and maintains high standardsIs proactive, solutions-driven and decisiveEmbraces change and to drive operational improvement
