Description
Minimum requirements for the role:
  • A Grade 12 is essential for this role.
  • A National Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, or a related field is preferred for this role.
  • Must have a valid forklift license.
  • Previous experience having worked in a Raw Materials warehouse or operations or materials control, or inventory role is essential for the role.
  • Previous experience having worked within a raw materials handling role within a manufacturing environment ideally within the plastics or chemical or related role is preferred for the role.
  • Previous experience in implementing and maintaining stock control systems and ensuring FIFO/LIFO practices is pref.
  • The successful candidate must be proficient in inventory management systems and warehouse ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of stock taking, reconciliations, and reporting procedures is essential.
  • Familiarity with materials storage regulations with regards to hazardous materials handling (if applicable), and safety standards.
  • Must have basic MS Office skills, particularly Excel for reporting and analysis.
  • Must be able to analyse stock trends and generate reports for procurement and production planning.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Supervising staff and managing the flow of raw materials into and out of storage, ensuring accurate inventory control and the timely supply of materials to production.
  • Maintaining stock accuracy, optimising warehouse operations and storage capacity, minimising costs, and ensuring a safe and compliant warehouse environment.
  • Coordinating material deliveries in conjunction with Procurement.
  • Inspecting deliveries by checking for damage, defects, or discrepancies with regard to raw materials.
  • Managing shipment documentation by verifying shipment details (quantity, quality, and condition) and ensuring accurate system capture of received goods.
  • Overseeing daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, and issuing of raw materials.
  • Optimising warehouse layout and storage capacity and ensuring efficient material flow to support production requirements.
  • Conducting daily stock counts, cycle counts, and scheduled stock audits.
  • Investigating and resolving stock discrepancies promptly as well as monitoring inventory levels and stock movements to minimise stockouts and overstocking.
  • Analysing inventory trends and recommending process improvements in line with production schedules and demand changes.
  • Ensuring proper receipt, inspection, and safe storage of raw materials.
  • Verifying material availability and prioritising production requirements.
  • Coordinating with Quality Control (QC) and Production teams for timely issuance.
