Description
Minimum requirements:
  • Matric.
  • Diploma or certificate in engineering, fluid handling systems, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related technical field is advantageous but not required.
  • Minimum two years experience in pump or industrial equipment sales or similar, with pumps (centrifugal, submersible, positive displacement, etc.) as an advantage.
  • Technical background experience essential, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience working with industries such as water treatment, oil and gas, HVAC, manufacturing, or mining is advantageous.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Understand pump technologies, fluid mechanics, and hydraulic systems.
  • Size and select pumps based on system requirements.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, spares lists, P&IDs, and schematics.
  • Use pump software such as Pedrollo and Zenit.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical seals, motors, and variable frequency drives.
  • Negotiate, present, and close sales effectively.
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Provide strong customer service and resolve problems.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis.
  • Manage sales processes and negotiate contracts.
  • Work under pressure and meet deadlines for sales orders or quotes.
  • Communicate clearly in both Afrikaans and English.
  • Influence decision-makers through strong interpersonal skills.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Travel locally or regionally, often 70% of the week, at company cost.
  • Drive using a valid drivers licence.
  • Organise and manage time efficiently.
  • Use own transport to work daily.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance, with work shirts supplied after probation.
