Engineering Manager: GCC

Saldanha (West Coast)

The appointed person will ensure that the plant is designed, operated, and maintained safely, legally, and efficiently, in line with South African legislation.

Qualification:

• BEng or B. Tech or equivalent (Mechanical or Electrical)
• Government Certificate of Competency (Manufacturing plant) GCC
• At least 10 years of experience in a leadership role.
• Minimum 8 years engineering experience in a chemical/petrochemical / heavy industrial environment
• Proven experience with pressure equipment, statutory inspections, and legal compliance
• Strong knowledge of the OHS Act, PER, and relevant SANS standards
• Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams

Responsibilities

• Compliance with OHS Act, PER, and SANS standards.
• Ensuring competent persons operate and maintain plant equipment
• Being the appointed legal engineer in case of incidents or audits
• Lead all engineering disciplines,
• Set engineering standards and philosophies
• Approve designs, calculations, and specifications
• Ensure equipment selection suits chemical service (corrosion, temperature, pressure)
• Align engineering strategy with production and safety goals
• Manage Plant reliability
• Process Safety & Risk Management
• Capital Projects & Modifications
• Ensuring modifications comply with: OHS Act, Plant standards, Commissioning, and handover
• Lead engineers, technicians, and artisans
• Manage engineering budgets
• Develop succession plans
• Mentor junior engineers toward GCC
• Interface with operations, SHEQ, and senior management
