Midvaal Recruitment is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer for a large industrial operation based in Kuils River.

This role is responsible for overseeing all civil works, including site analysis, design, budgeting, compliance, and full project execution within a heavy industrial environment.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Civil Engineer will manage civil infrastructure projects from feasibility through to completion. Responsibilities include blueprint design, structural analysis, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and overseeing construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Planning & Design

• Analyze survey data, maps, and site conditions
• Develop project plans, blueprints, and technical specifications
• Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact considerations
• Perform risk assessments (budgetary, regulatory, safety)
• Prepare detailed budgets and project drafts

Project Management

• Coordinate site labour and contractors
• Manage material procurement and delivery
• Monitor progress against timelines and approved plans
• Conduct structural analysis to ensure load-bearing integrity and durability
• Work closely with SHERQ to ensure compliance with safety standards

Compliance & Budget Control

• Ensure adherence to municipal regulations and building codes
• Ensure compliance with ISO and applicable industry standards
• Oversee strict budget control and cost management
• Prepare cost estimates and manage amendments

Operational & Leadership Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to line management
• Ensure continuity during planned and unplanned absences
• Maintain proactive, professional conduct
• Take responsibility for performance and project outcomes

Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering
• Valid Code 8 Driver’s License
• Computer Literacy Certificate

Experience

• 10–12 years’ experience in site supervision of industrial and commercial projects
• Strong project management and budgeting experience
• Proficiency in CAD and design software
• Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
