Job Title: Accountant – Tax Accounting Practice 

Location: Roodepoort, Johannesburg (Hybrid: 2–3 days per week in-office)
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: Market-related (R30,000 – R45,000 per month, depending on experience)

About the Role

A well-established tax and accounting practice based in Roodepoort is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing a full client portfolio independently and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting and tax functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform complete bookkeeping from source documents to trial balance and annual financial statements (AFS) in compliance with IFRS for SMEs.

• Prepare and submit VAT201 returns accurately and timeously via SARS eFiling.

• Reconcile bank statements, debtors, creditors, and inter-company loan accounts.

• Manage payroll processing, including EMP201 submissions and issuing IRP5/IT3(a) certificates.

• Assist with tax compliance, including provisional tax calculations and ITR14 submissions.

• Ensure all client deliverables are accurate, compliant, and submitted within deadlines.

• Liaise with clients professionally to resolve queries and provide accounting support.

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years’ proven experience as a Senior Accountant within an accounting or tax practice.

• Proficient in accounting software including Sage (50/One/Pastel), Xero, and QuickBooks.
