Equity Analyst

You will be responsible for researching and analysing shares listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and identifying compelling investment opportunities that contribute to superior client outcomes. Your insights will help guide investment decisions made by Portfolio Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct full-scale research and fundamental analysis of JSE-listed companies and sectors.
• Evaluate broker reports, company financials, and other relevant market information.
• Attend company results presentations, briefings, and site visits to gather qualitative insights.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models to support investment cases.
• Engage in investment team discussions and debates to refine and test your views.
• Present well-structured investment recommendations to the broader team.
• Monitor the performance and developments of portfolio holdings and update views accordingly.

Ideal Profile:

• Up to 5 years experience as an equity analyst in asset management, stockbroking, or related environments is preferred but not essential.
• Strong financial modelling and forecasting skills.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking ability.
• A natural curiosity about business, markets, and long-term investment trends.

Qualifications (any of the following will be considered):

• Chartered Accountant (CA(SA))
• Business Science (Finance stream preferred)
• Engineering
• Actuarial Science
• CFA Charterholder or progressing towards qualification
• Other relevant postgraduate qualifications
