Description
To be responsible for the implementation of the employee relations strategy.Key Performance Areas:Provide advice on which management strategies and options to be followed during conciliation and mediation proceedingsProvide weekly and monthly accurate reporting as per specified timeframes and templates.Provide ad hoc reports on process improvement and innovation.Analyse, evaluate and implement arbitration and pre-dismissal arbitration awards to determine possible grounds for rescission or review.Advice on Disciplinary and Grievance procedures, Basic Conditions of Service, OHS Act, Staff Manual and other regulations.Ensure the benefits of an efficient and effective customer driven department to internal and external stakeholders.Develop strategies to cultivate greater feedback with external customers for the enhancement of service deliveryBuild mechanisms to encourage continuous engagement with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure a foundation for effective working relationships.Advise on complex ER matters and on the appropriate approach to effectively dealing with instances of labour unrest.Establish and maintain sound relations with organised labour.Participate in the review of policies to ensure that they are in line with current Labour Legislation, Case Law and Labour TrendsEnsure that the company is always well represented at relevant forums, e.g., CBC, CCMA, Labour Court, etc.Provide coaching Line Managers on ER Procedures including how to manage grievances and misconduct, dispute resolution.Participate in the development of ER frameworks and policies in line with labour legislation and the specific issues and challenges facing employee relations.Provide expert and specialist advice to business on related legal and regulatory compliance.Represent the organisation in dispute resolution processes including mediation, arbitration, and negotiation.Undertake legal analysis and risk evaluation of potential disputes and disputes that are declared to determine the appropriate management strategy to be followed.Provide expert advice in collective bargaining and dispute resolution processes to ensure a stable and conflict free ER environment.Minimum Requirements:NQF 8 (Post graduate Diploma / Honours Degree / Professional Qualification Degree) in HR/ Labour Relations with specialization in Labour Law.Relevant 8 to 10 years’ experience in labour relations environment of which three (3) years must have been on management level/ area of expertise.Highly experienced in planning and delivering ER initiatives.Experience in dealing with Unions.Technical Competencies Required:Knowledge and understanding of labour legislation, policies, procedures, and practices.Knowledge in the art and practice of conducting negotiations.Advanced knowledge of dispute management in labour relations.Advanced negotiation skills.Strong ability to apply case law and judicial precedents to labour related issues.Ability to apply the Arbitration Act and Industrial Relati
