Central Breede River Water Users Association has an opportunity for a Water Control Officer to join their operational team. The job incumbent’s main objective is to ensure effective management and equitable distribution of water resources while protecting the environment and meeting the needs of all members and stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Keep record of and report on the water volumes provided to each irrigator

· Inspect and monitor the assigned water distribution infrastructure

· Do routine maintenance on the water distribution infrastructure and keep it clean

· Respond to water emergencies (e.g. floods and pollution)

· Supervise and motivate assistants

· Oversee and manage large-scale maintenance projects carried out by contractors

REQUIREMENTS:

· · Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent

· · At least 5 years’ water control experience

· · Basic knowledge of civil and mechanical maintenance

· · Excellent numerical skills

· · Successful completion of DWS’s Water Control Officer Course will be advantageous

· · Valid driver’s licence

· · Fluent in Afrikaans & English

· · Medically fit and able to work in confined spaces
