There are two types, one for pre 2008 and one for 2008 upward - please ensure you select the correct diaphragm.A leaking crankcase breather valve? Engine all covered in oil on the intake side?
If your car is making squeaking/whistling noises which stop after the oil level dipstick is removed, showing a high level of engine vacuum, you can be 99.9% certain that the crankcase breather valve has been damaged or to be specific, its membrane.
Other symptoms of its damage include increased oil consumption, smoke and irregular engine operation.
The membrane operates in hot oil fumes and simply becomes damaged and deformed. Underestimating this defect can result in engine deposits building up in the turbo, faulty flow meter operation, issues with the EGR valve (irregular engine operation, power shortage), intercooler soiling (increased fume temperature on the intake), reduced air capacity on the intake (power reduction) to name a few.
The service typically suggests replacement of the whole component, i.e. the oil filter base (valve cover), which is integrated with the oil separator (crankcase breather valve) and this fix is expensive as you have to buy the complete unit. However, the fix is simple, just replace the membrane inside the unit at a fraction of the cost of a complete unit.
You can save a lot by buying the membrane itself from us and replacing it on your own or we can do the repair for you.
Your engine will be dry and clean again and the oil will not reach the intake system and thus the turbo.
