NOTICE OF VACANCYMachine Operator – Team Leader (Turning & Holes Section)Roemer’s Grinding Works is seeking a skilled and experienced Machine Operator – Team Leader for our Turning and Holes Section. This role is suited to a hands-on leader with solid technical ability in fitting, turning and milling, and a strong commitment to Lean Manufacturing principles, quality, and team development.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Machine Operator – Team Leader will be responsible for leading a production team while actively participating in daily operations. The role includes, but is not limited to: Leading and developing a team of machine operators using Lean Manufacturing principles, with a strong focus on continuous improvement. Managing team performance to consistently achieve a minimum SLA of 98%. Creating and maintaining a stable production environment through effective control of the 5 M’s (Material, Machine, Manpower, Method and Measurement). Ensuring machines are correctly maintained, calibrated and operated, with minimal breakdowns, zero defects and no unplanned stoppages. Implementing and enforcing standardised work procedures to meet Roemer’s quality standards and tolerances. Applying and maintaining 5S standards, conducting weekly housekeeping assessments and ensuring ongoing compliance. Using Kanban boards to manage production scheduling effectively. Reducing waste, particularly defect and waiting waste, and achieving a minimum Quality Yield of 95% per month. Ensuring all work is properly inspected before moving to the next process and before handover to Quality Control. Preparing jobs by interpreting drawings, specifications and samples, and instructing team members accordingly. Ensuring furnace jobs are correctly prepared for hardening, tempering and annealing where applicable. Promoting and enforcing adherence to Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures. Providing input into team member KPAs and supporting in-house training and skills development. Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues related to turning, milling, grinding, planning machines and furnaces. Minimum Requirements Proven experience as a Machine Operator, preferably within a Turning and Holes or similar precision engineering environment. Qualification and/or experience in Fitting and Turning and Milling. Strong understanding of machining principles, measurements, tolerances and quality standards. Demonstrated leadership ability with experience supervising or guiding others. Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and production control systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Remuneration Wage rate will be in accordance with the MEIBC rate schedule. The setup has everything you need including Stainless steel settling tanks and storage tanks for after the production of your olive oil. Machine produces 150kg's per hour and suitable for harvest sizes 500- 8000 trees.With the Olive oil pricing increasing yearly it makes it a great opportunity to start producing your own olive oil. When buying a reconditioned olive machine, you are getting a full setup for 50% less than you would a new plant and it comes with the same warranty as the new plants as well.We completely overhaul every component of the plant, Doing the following:1. Full strip down to nut and bolt.2. Chemical clean on every stripped component3. Bead blast all stainless steel of the machine to refresh the look.4. Replace ALL bearings on complete plant: Decanter, washer de-leafer, Malaxer, waste dis-charge pump, All electrical motors.5. Decanter: Inner and outer gets balanced 6. Then pumps the paste into the decanter which is speed controlled to ensure maximum yield from your olives.3. Decanter: Extracts the oil from the paste, Comes with water control and adjustable jets to allow maximum oil extraction for any variety of olives.4. Waste dis-charge pump: This unit pumps the waste after oil extraction up to 30 meters away.5. Oil catchment tray with pump and Pressure plate filter. The unit comes with a 90 litre stainless steel catchment tray with 20X20 pressure filter and transfer pump. This allows you to transfer the oil into your settling tanks and then filter once settled into your storage tanks.6.
