The 220s series, also known as the Ponton, was Mercedes-Benz's principal entry in the mid-size luxury class and were sold between 1956 - 1959. This very rare 1958 220s model, which has the 6 cylinder, four stroke SOHC power unit with a displacement of 2.2 liters. With an output of 105 HP 6 cylinder engine that was designed to deliver smooth and a seamless performance to the driver and was designed as a touring car. The engine is in perfect condition and had a recent major service and idles beautifully. It was recently driven over 350 km’s and easily cruises at 110km per hour with more power to go, which is astonishing for a 65 year old car!The car has been owned by me for over 10 years and provided many joyful and memorable weekend road trips. It now needs exterior and interior restoration to be completed and hence the cheaper price. I don't have the time to take care of the car as she deserves. 1972 Model, 1600, unmolested, un-restored, honest and very original, this Beetle is in great condition both mechanically and body wise. No rust, original body pan, original engine and gearbox, drives like a charm. Just overhauled king&link pins with refurbished stub axles from Volkspares. Everythings works, license is up to date. A couple of small beauty-spots, e.g. slight tear in headliner, driver seat and rear back rest. Radio fitted in cubbyhole to retain original dash, no speaker holes in door panels.
