For Sale: 1936 DKW (Auto Union) Roadster Luxus SportA rare opportunity to acquire a LHD 1936 DKW Roadster Luxus Sport, one of only 407 built between 1935 and 1938. Just 16 were produced in September 1936, and 128 in the entire year—making this a truly scarce pre-war German roadster.Powered by a period-correct 692cc, 2-stroke twin-cylinder engine (an identical replacement fitted long ago), the car remains largely original aside from a few components updated during an early recommissioning, which also included a respray and interior work. Now nearly 90 years old, it still presents beautifully. Fiat introduced the convertible sporty two-seater Spider at the same time as the Coupé, with the original 843 cc engine tuned to produce 49 hp (36 kW) which allowed it to reach a top speed of 145 km/h (90 mph). The body was designed and built by Bertone in its Grugliasco, Turin plant. The folding fabric roof stowed under a rear metal body panel.The Bertone design featured smooth, simple lines and details, including recessed headlamps equipped with plexiglass covers angled to match the adjacent fenders/wings — and dihedral side panels similar to Bertone's 1963 Chevrolet Testudo. This little car was was part of a larger collection of classic Italian cars and is in a very good but not perfect condition. It was obviously refurbished at some stage in its life and the paint is good. The contrast of the bright Red with Maroon interior gives it a very brash persona. Mechanically the little car is in a very good condition and she drives very well. If you are looking for a small, fun, unusual classic car, then look no further! This is one of only 180 RHD cars made at the factory. A true collectors car, this car was developed by Porsche and has many Porsche components. This car is completely original and in excellent driving condition. It has recently had a full service with GT Club Sport including new belts, plugs, filters etc. A fantastic drivers car, this is the OG RS car!
