General Details
Description
A System Administrator is required to configure, maintain, and administer all systems-related technology and infrastructure within enterprise branches and multiple data centres, East Rand
Plan and Set Up Systems Infrastructure
- Implement validated patches and updates
- Configure web service platforms
- Implement VMs according to business/product requirements
- Define and allocate IP addresses
- Plan and report on VM host capacity
- Diagnose system faults
Maintain High Availability of Systems Infrastructure
- Identify system evolution and improvement requirements
- Identify, test, and recommend new and/or improved systems and usage
- Verify hardware and software compatibility
- Collaborate with Network Administrators on network design
- Test and validate software patches and updates
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance and access issues
- Maintain robust security compliance (OS updates, antivirus, warnings)
- Create, configure, and maintain isolated (ringâ??fenced) virtual environments
- Respond to and resolve system warnings, errors, and failures
- Recover server data from hardware failures
- Recover end-user data from hardware failures
- Maintain physical hardware backup servers
- Rebuild RAID on replacement storage hardware
- Maintain web service platforms
- Provide remote support to the IT support function
Maintain Continuous Professional Development
- Conduct ongoing research on emerging technologies
- Identify, test, and recommend new/improved systems and technologies
Perform General Administrative Duties
- Monitor daily server backup and replication health
