JOB DESCRIPTION: LEATHER HANDBAG MAKER

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Leather Handbag Maker to join our artisanal team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, exceptional craftmanship and a deep understanding of leatherworking techniques. The role involves designing, cutting, assembling, and finishing high-quality leather handbags, ensuring each piece meets our rigorous standards and quality and style.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Design and Pattern Making:

· Create and interpret handbag designs and patterns.

· Collaborate with designer to refine prototypes and develop new collection.

· Assembly and Sewing:

· Assemble handbag components using hand tools and industrial sewing machines.

· Stitch leather pieces together, ensuring precision and durability.

· Finishing:

· Attach hardware (e.g. zippers, buckles, handles) with precision and care.

· Quality Control:

· Inspect handbags for defects and ensure all products meet quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience:

· Proven experience as a leather handbag maker or similar leatherworking role.

· Portfolio showcasing previous handbag designs and craftmanship.

· Skills:

· Proficient in hand stitching and machine sewing techniques.

· Strong knowledge of leather types, treatment, and care.

· Ability to read and interpret design patterns and technical drawings.

· Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

· Attributes:

· Creativity and a passion for fashion and design.

· Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

· Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with designers and other team members.

EDUCATION:

· Hands-on experience and a strong portfolio are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.

· Manual dexterity to handle tools and materials with precision.

· Capability to lift and carry materials and finished products as needed.
