A Millwright

Location: Durban - La Mercy

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Millwright to join our team in a permanent capacity. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing machinery and equipment to ensure efficient operations.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or similar role
• Proficiency in CAD
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Lathe machines
  • Milling machines
  • Drill press
  • Broaching machines
  • CNC machines (programming required)

Technical Knowledge

• PVC extrusion processes
• PLCs, thermocouples, and variable speed drives
• Hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and bearings
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Knowledge of ISO 45000 & 14000 standards
• Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations (advantageous)

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement maintenance procedures
• Conduct facility inspections and resolve technical issues
• Oversee preventative maintenance schedules
• Manage breakdowns and emergency repairs
• Supervise installations and repair projects
• Coordinate contractors and service providers
• Plan maintenance work and manage spare parts inventory
• Maintain accurate documentation (job cards, timesheets, requisitions)
• Monitor maintenance budgets and expenses
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
• Lead, train, and manage maintenance teams
• Conduct team meetings and report to management
• Monitor and improve utility consumption
