Senior React Front-End Engineer

Were looking for a Senior Front-End Engineer with deep React expertise to lead the design and delivery of high-quality, scalable user interfaces. Youll work closely with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to architect front-end systems, drive technical decisions, and ensure best-in-class performance, accessibility, and developer experience.

This role is suited to someone who can independently lead complex features and initiatives from concept to production, mentor engineers, and shape the front-end architecture and standards across the product.

Our successful Senior React Front-End Engineer will

• Lead front-end architecture decisions, champion best practices, and drive consistency in patterns, tooling and code quality.
• Design and deliver complex, scalable user-facing features, breaking down large problems into maintainable components.
• Architect reliable client/server state management solutions, define caching and real-time update patterns, and collaborate effectively on API design.
• Uphold high-quality engineering by setting testing standards, strengthening CI/CD, and improving observability and debugging.
• Optimise performance across rendering, bundle size and Core Web Vitals, while ensuring strong accessibility and proactive improvements.
• Build scalable UI systems, evolve shared design systems, and maintain consistency across components, flows and user experiences.
• Lead incident triage, deep debugging and root-cause analysis to improve reliability and resilience.
• Collaborate closely with product, design and backend teams, communicating trade-offs, estimates and risks clearly.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, supporting team growth and technical excellence.
• Drive refactoring, manage technical debt, oversee dependencies, and implement feature flags and rollout strategies for scalable delivery.

If you have these qualifications, join our team: Matric, computer literacy (MS Office), strong numeracy, and excellent verbal and written English skills; plus 68 years of front-end experience with 6 years in React, strong JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript expertise, deep knowledge of React internals and performance optimisation, solid CSS and responsive design skills, experience with modern frameworks like Next.js or Vite, proven front-end architecture capability, strong testing experience (Jest, RTL, E2E), API integration and design experience, and a solid understanding of accessibility and internationalisation.
