Diesel Mechanic

A vacancy exists *at Rhino Mine, Thabazimbi *for a *Diesel Mechanic *reporting to the* Workshop Foreman.* *Purpose of the Role:  * To ensure availability of all HME Machines, LDV’s and Utility Machines on site at Rhino.  *Scope of job:* * Truck & Machine availability. * Plant utilization. *Key Tasks and Responsibilities:* * Verify deviations as per pre use checklist filled in by operator. * Assist with maintenance planning and completion of job cards. * Rectify any urgent defects. * Attend breakdowns daily as per instruction from the Foreman. * Service, repair and maintain trucks, dumpers, Front end loaders, forklifts, excavators, loaders, LDV’s, TLB and Bobcat. * Troubleshoot faults on machines. * Liaise with the Foreman and Komatsu service provider regarding services & breakdowns of machines. * Give feedback regarding breakdowns, status of repairs & services. * Request quotes from suppliers for parts. * Auto electrical on lights, hooters, stroke lights, air cons, brakes, sign off pre use checks. * Assisting with duties not normally associated with the Trade, but essential to the continuous operation of the mobile machinery, eg greasing, tyre inflation, washing of machines. *Qualifications; Experience; Knowledge; Skills and Attributes* * Diesel mechanic qualification is a prerequisite. * A minimum of 10 Years mechanical experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and HME maintenance. * Experience of Volvo and Komatsu equipment would be advantageous. * Minimal welding experience. * Be able to use hand tools. * Matric is a prerequisite. * Candidate must have his own tools. * The candidate must be able to speak, read and write English. * Must have a driver’s license, preferably Code EC licence. * Candidate must have his/her own vehicle to travel to and from work. * Candidate must have his/her own mechanic trade tools. * Be able to work under pressure. * Must be willing to work on a call out basis as well as overtime and standby basis. * Good Communication skills. * Knowledge and experience on working with external HME suppliers (Komatsu, Volvo, Bell, CAT). * Problem solving skills. * Team player. * Assertiveness. * Good employee relations. * Keep abreast with new technology on all machines. * Must have experience working with various machines and models. * Medical certificate for fitness. * Must be able to work in dusty and noisy environments, & sometimes slippery environments. * Must be able to pick up heavy equipment. * Must be willing to work overtime and do standby. *Qualifications; Experience; Knowledge; Skills and Attributes* * Diesel mechanic qualification is a prerequisite. * A minimum of 10 Years mechanical experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and
