About the Role

Join Sasol’s Energy Operations team and take control of critical refinery processes. As a Chemical Process Controller, you will operate complex plant systems and processes to meet production targets safely and efficiently — playing a key role in one of South Africa’s leading energy businesses.

Education

Matric with Maths & Science

Occupational Trade Certificate (NQF4) — advantageous

Experience

2+ years in a crude oil refining facility

Declared competent as operator in a relevant process unit

Process Unit Experience (one of the following)

CDU / VDU or Fluidized Catalytic Cracker (FCC)

Diesel / Naphtha Hydrotreater, Platformer, or Alkylation

AR Hydrotreater (RCD), Hydrocracker, Hydrogen Unit, or Amine / Sulfur Recovery

API Wastewater Management, Tank Farm, or Product Dispatch

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor plant process equipment and systems to meet production targets
• Lead by example and play a key role during emergency situations to restore normal operations
• Conduct on-the-job coaching and SME presentations on plant equipment
• Participate in risk assessments, root cause analyses, and IMS inspections
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and improve practices and equipment
• Provide feedback to supervisors and collaborate effectively across disciplines
• Participate in shift handovers, toolbox talks, and safety compliance activities
