A well-established plastic extrusion manufacturing company based in Hammarsdale is seeking a skilled Turner / Lathe Machinist to join our maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and refurbishment of extrusion tooling, ensuring production equipment remains in optimal condition.

Key Responsibilities

• Operating lathe machines to repair and maintain extrusion tooling
• Polishing and refurbishing die heads, calibrators, mandrels and related tooling
• Cleaning and servicing tooling after production runs
• Light machining and modification of tooling components
• Inspecting tooling for wear, damage, or dimensional issues
• Assisting with tool setup preparation for production
• Maintaining a clean and organised tool room
• Working closely with the production and maintenance teams

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience and a qualification as a Turner / Lathe Machinist
• Ability to operate manual lathes
• Experience with precision polishing and finishing of metal components
• Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and measurements
• Good understanding of tolerances and precision machining
• Strong attention to detail and workmanship
• Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently

Advantageous (but not essential)

• Experience working with plastic extrusion tooling
• Experience with mild and stainless steel tooling
• Basic mechanical fitting experience

• Ability to work under pressure when production requires urgent tooling repairs

Salary

Market related and based on experience.
