Job Overview:This position is responsible for monitoring and supporting health and safety in the East London plant towards a total safety culture. To drive and maintain the Health, Safety, Ergonomics and Environmental (HSEE) management system and act as HSEE Management Representative.Ensure performance targets are achieved in related areas. Minimum Requirements:Matric / Grade 12Relevant degree/diploma with qualification in Health and SafetyPrevious experience with ISO14001, ISO 450015 +years full time experience in the Health, Safety and Environmental fieldHSE Experience in Automotive / Manufacturing industry will be an added advantage Main Responsibilities:Monitor contractors to ensure they are compliant with minimum HSEE requirements and have a valid permit to workEnsure that the company’s HSEE policies and procedures are fully complied with in order to reduce the risk of litigationCo-ordinate and control First Aid activities, accident & spillage investigations and collation of accident statistics (internal and external reporting)Liaise with all relevant parties on occupational health issuesLiaise with all relevant parties on all environmental compliance issuesSchedule and coordinate HSEE committee meetings in accordance with company procedures. Represent the plant externally on HSEE issues, in cooperation and agreement with the Regional HSEE ManagerDrive and co-ordinate the site behaviour based safety program, Total Safety CultureFacilitation of incident investigations involving fire or other emergenciesEnsure that people with responsibility for safety and environment are challengedAct as the “internal consultant” to the plant manager and to the plant management teamFacilitation of statutory required measurements such as noise, lighting and ventilations surveys, ESD measuring, infrared inspections etc. Initiate appropriate corrective actionsFacilitate / provide and/or conduct training in all HSEE mattersComplete and update all Environmental Aspect and Impact assessments and Health/Safety Risk assessments. (including Hazardous Chemical Substance assessments)Assist plant management team in the development of HSEE objective and targets to ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO 45001 and to drive continuous improvementDevelop management programs for set objectives and targets.
