  • Lead and manage the Mechanical Engineering department, including engineers, technicians, and project teams.
  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of mechanical systems and projects.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Manage project budgets, cost controls, and resource allocation.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant South African regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, risk management, and long-term engineering development.
Requirements:
  • BEng / BSc / BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng preferred).
  • Minimum 812 years mechanical engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
  • Strong experience in project management within manufacturing, heavy industry, mining, or related sectors.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • Sound understanding of budgeting, cost control, and operational management.
