Purchasing Manager

Sourcing of goods (Chemicals & Equipment) and services both Import & local, in line with the Organisation's Procurement policy. Support business in delivering key targets to costs, quality & competitive buying.   * Manage purchasing of critical raw materials and chemicals (imported and local) * Formulate purchasing/procurement plan to support business strategy & production in line with budget * Monitor and track monthly chemical forecast and consumption trends to ensure sufficient stock for daily production and safety stock * Conduct vendor site visits to monitor stock commitments from suppliers and as part of Know Your Suppliers. * Source and benchmark alternative products to ensure business continuity * Investigate trends in pricing and availability of typical materials, goods and services * Analyze the marketplace to find suppliers that provide best product/service cost, quality and delivery objectives  * Track global & local feed stock, forex movements & translate into price forecasts required to support Head of Commercial with pricing strategies * Establish comprehensive sourcing, purchasing and inventory control processes. * Manage stock to optimal levels; realize inventory cost efficiencies in raw material and work in progress * Understanding of import documentation procedures and INCOTERMS * Negotiating terms and prices with suppliers, monitoring, and assessing their performance and maintaining cost-effective practices * Facilitate implementation of procurement procedures for continuous improvement * Supplier Management & Contracting * Maintain necessary ISO procedures/ documentation, related to the Purchasing * Collaborate closely with Operations (Manufacturing team in Pietermaritzburg and Durban) * Lead a team of buyers (based in Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg and Durban)     * Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management /Chemical Degree * Minimum 5 years Procurement experience * Mininum 3 years Chemicals buying experience * Extensive experience in manufacturing chemicals purchasing an added advantage * Background in manufacturing processes and a working knowledge of MRP & ERP systems (SAP) preferred  * Knowledge and experience in transformative Preferential Procurement policy under BBBEE regulations R650 000 - R850 000 CTC per annum   * Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management /Chemical Degree * Minimum 5 years Procurement experience * Mininum 3 years Chemicals buying experience * Extensive experience in manufacturing chemicals purchasing an added advantage * Background in manufacturing processes and a working knowledge of MRP & ERP systems (SAP) preferred  * Knowledge and experience in transformative Preferential Procurement policy under BBBEE regulations
