Description
Our client, a well-established national manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Reefer Technician to join their Cape Town operation based in Macassar.
This role requires a qualified refrigeration technician with a solid commercial refrigeration background, including hands-on experience with reefers and blast freezers.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance, servicing, and repair of refrigerated containers (reefers)
- Servicing and breakdown support for reefer sale and leasing stock
- Working on commercial refrigeration systems, including blast freezers
- Attending on-site callouts and emergency breakdowns
- Commissioning and testing of refrigeration units
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to ensure full operational status
- Completing job cards and liaising professionally with clients on-site
- Managing and accounting for spares and tools used
- Assisting with inspections of reefers prior to procurement or off-hire
- Maintaining high housekeeping and safety standards in the workshop
- Overtime and after-hours callouts as required (company vehicle provided)
Minimum Requirements
- Trade Test Qualified Refrigeration Technician (non-negotiable)
- Proven commercial refrigeration experience (including blast freezers)
- Reefer experience is essential, but must be supported by a strong refrigeration background
- Not suitable for candidates with only depot or basic reefer exposure
- Valid driver’s licence (non-negotiable)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Safety-conscious with good housekeeping practices
