An Accountant

This Financial Accountant role sits at the heart of the finance function, ensuring that reporting is reliable, controls are strong, and decision-making is backed by numbers that can be trusted.

This is a hands-on role for a detail-driven Accountant who understands the importance of getting the basics right while contributing meaningful insight to management. You will be responsible for end-to-end financial reporting, month-end processes, statutory compliance, and supporting the broader business with sound financial information.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
• Maintain accurate general ledger records and perform detailed reconciliations
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals, provisions, and prepayments
• Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and audit packs
• Ensure compliance with IFRS or IFRS for SMEs, where applicable
• Prepare and review VAT returns and reconciliations, and assist with income tax and provisional tax submissions
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and external service providers
• Maintain and improve internal financial controls and governance processes
• Identify risks, errors, and inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
• Provide financial insight and support to management and operational teams

Job Experience and Skills Required:

• BCom in Accounting is essential
• BCom Accounting Honours is advantageous
• Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles advantageous
• 3 to 7 years experience in a Financial Accountant role
• Exposure to audit or a structured finance environment preferred
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and reconciliation skills
• High attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Excel and accounting systems such as Sage, Pastel, or ERP platforms
