Our client in the Freight industry has an opportunity available for a Diesel Electric Fitter in the Eastern Suburbs of Johannesburg. This will be contract position for 12 months.Requirements:Qualified Artisan (Must be Diesel Electric)Experience in Hydraulics systemComputer Skills (Safety Awareness)Able to draft reportsAble to identify hazards and Risk AssessmentsIncident investigations3-5 years relevant work experience as diesel electric locomotive fitterValid driving licenseRequires an ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and Public Holiday as per operational requirementsDuties and Responsibilities:Carry out the heavy repair and overhaul of locomotives in line with industry standardsEnsure the maintenance of all locomotives according to RSR requirements, maintenance schedules and OEM standardsMaintenance and repairs for all sites and do rolling stockProcuring and managing relevant parts from suppliers and ensure quality checksEnsure all locomotives reports are captured on ACAPEnsure all components repair are managed and controlledEnsure spare parts inventory is up to date at Head Office and at all sites – conduct regular auditsEnsure tracker and camera systems are installed and monitoredMonitor diesel fuel usage and gather monthly reports on consumption, shunting kilos, main line kilos, monthly hourly readings of locomotives
