Port ElizabethREQUIREMENTSQualified in a recognized trade or relevant tertiary education (Electrical / Mechatronics) degree/diploma2 - 3 years of experience as a control and automation technicianExperience in control and automation, controls software development, networking and plant floor systemsExtensive knowledge and understanding of Body, Paint and Assembly manufacturing operations and equipmentAdvanced computer literacy (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, MS Project; PLC, HMI and Robot software used in plant)Knowledge of OHSH act and its regulations, safety systems and standardsAble to implement and drive standards throughout all shops in the plantExperienced in controls and automation related project cost studies, budget forecasting and control abilityAble to work overtime and rotating shifts as required and must be available after hours when neededGood interpersonal and leadership skills and control and automation project management experienceAble to understand and interrogate control systems designsDemonstrated history of flexibility and adaptability in setting priorities and managing multiple tasks under pressure RESPONSIBILITIESAnalyse PLC, HMI, SCADA and Robot programs for the purpose of fault-finding, modifying, designing and error-proofing machinery and equipmentTroubleshoot and solve various program logic, electrical and mechanical faults on machines to support production, safety and qualityUnderstand electrical drawings, technical manuals, PLC logic and robot programs to troubleshoot machineryAssist and support artisans and technicians with fault finding breakdownsPerform breakdown root cause analysis and develop countermeasures to prevent reoccurrenceDevelop training programs for GIT’s IST’s, artisans and techniciansEstablish and maintain a stockholding of spare parts required to ensure continuous availability for machineryAssist and support contractors with new installations and perform validation after completion of projectsDevelop efficiency improvement initiatives by effectively utilising utilities, materials and resourcesMaintain cost control on budgets for CAPEX and OPEX projectsResponsible for the planning, design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of all controls and automation elements of tooling, equipment and facilities in support of new model programmes, IT refresh interface, non-product portfolio and major process changesResponsible for equipment safety, ensuring new equipment designs promotes safe work practicesEnsure compliance to company standards and all local and country laws and regulations for safety, health and environment with respect to new projectsResponsible to manage internal employees and contractors to achieve program milestones, driving safety, quality and lead-time imperativesConduct feasibility studies and develop cost estimation studies for new projects related to controls and automation elementsFacilitate equipment and tooling design and buyoff reviews with all key stakeholdersImplementation of e
