Van Riebeeckshof Spar, located in the affluent area of
Bellville, Northern Suburbs of Cape Town, is seeking a skilled and experienced
Butcher/Blockman to join our butchery department. As a Butcher/Blockman, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department's
operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and customer
service.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all day-to-day operational details of the butchery
department.
Utilize minimum 10 years of experience in butchery,
including managing department operations.
Proficiently work with and cut all meat species (beef, pork,
lamb, chicken).
Produce sausage and minced products.
Run the department efficiently, managing gross profit and
selling prices of all products.
Coordinate with suppliers, place orders, and manage stock
through weekly and monthly stock takes.
Provide regular sales and profit feedback directly to the
owner of the business.
Supervise and lead a team of 5 staff members, ensuring high
performance and adherence to standards.
Maintain exceptional cleanliness and hygiene standards
within the department.
Requirements:
Minimum 10 years' experience in butchery, with proven management
experience.
Ability to work with and cut all meat species, produce
sausage, and minced products.
Proven track record of efficiently managing a department's
gross profit and selling prices.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealing
with suppliers, staff, and customers.
Must have own transportation and be able to commute to
Bellville daily.
Only candidates currently residing in the Western Cape will
be considered.
Experience within the Spar environment is preferred but not
essential.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience and
