Our client is a meat processing producer of beef, pork, chicken for over 30 years. The are looking for an Abattoir Supervisor / Operations Manager to be based in HarrismithKey Responsibilities:Manage and oversee all aspects of slaughterhouse operations to ensure a continuous supply of safe, high-quality meatSchedule and supervise slaughter activities and staff in the departmentEnsure compliance with HACCP, hygiene, and other QA CertificationsConduct daily cleaning and maintenance inspections of all slaughter tools, equipment and machineryMonitor and maintain accurate stock records for received and dispersed goodsPrepare and deliver training programs and materials for support staffLead, motivate and manage staff; oversee recruitment and developmentManage further processing, packaging and waste managementEnsure efficient production processes, quality control and cost managementPrepare timely and relevant operational.Operate, maintain and troubleshoot all machinery and tools used in slaughtering processesPromote a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvementMaintain good employee relations and ensure compliance with company policies and valuesAdhere to animal welfare standards and ensure humane handling and slaughtering of livestockMinimum experience & qualifications requiredNational Diploma degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Animal Science, Biology, Microbiology, Meat Science or other related discipline from an accredited institution3 years experience in the meat processing (beef or pork) or food processing environment2 years of supervising the team in a food processing environmentExperience in fresh/frozen meat production is essentialMinimum 5 years experience in a meat-related field with strong understanding of Pork facility operations (beneficial)Experience in further meat processing, Pork, and offal packing (advantageous)Behavioural skills requiredProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and AbaserveExcellent written and verbal communication skills (English essential)Strong leadership, interpersonal and managerial skillsHighly organized, detail-oriented and able to work under pressureGood stock-taking and reporting skillsResponsible, hardworking and passionate about productionAbility to maintain high standards of hygiene and food safetyCommitment to continuous improvement and staff developmentAbility to enforce and maintain company policies, mission, vision and valuesWillingness to perform hands-on management and support daily operations https://www.jobplacements.com/Jobs/A/Abattoir-Supervisor-617866-Job-Search-3-12-2026-4-25-00-AM.asp?sid=gumtree
