Then, twenty minutes drive away, the more extensive and busier town of Kleinmond offers two supermarkets, bigger hardware, dentists, veterinary surgeries, a 24 hour medical centre with doctors on duty, more restaurants. It’s 60km to Hermanus from Pringle for the whale watching. Private and state hospitals in Hermanus and then closer, Somerset West. What are the negatives? The Cape South Easter wind and those naughty baboons which range from Rooiels to Kleinmond. IT SHOWCASES A TUSCAN ITALIAN FARMSTEAD WITH VIBRANT RED POPPY FIELDS. Both Tuscany (Italy) and Provence (France) are renowned for their stunning, vibrant red poppy fields that bloom in late spring, creating a, picturesque, and often fleeting landscape. These wild poppies typically appear peaking around mid-May, depending on the spring rains. Pieters paintings were known to be characterized by a loose impressionistic style and a vibrant use of colour. Known for fluid brushwork and a focus on light and atmosphere. His later contemporary works moved further toward expressionism, featuring even bolder and more intense use of colour. His work typically focuses on South African life and scenery, including: Cape wine farms, Karoo farm scenes, and coastal "ocean breeze" views. Many paintings were still life’s with Lilies, magnolias, chrysanthemums, other flowers and even copper still-life compositions. He also did scenes of Bo-Kaap street life, fishing, children on the beach, and farm activities like feeding chickens. HE WAS PRIMARILY KNOWN FOR ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS, OFTEN PRESENTED IN ORNATE FRAMES. SIZE: FRAME 65CM WIDE 55CM HIGH PAINTING 55CM WIDE 45CM HIGH CONDITION: PAINTINGS AND FRAME IN GOOD CONDITION. PIETER MILLARD (1936-2017): Millard was a self-taught professional artist from 1981 onwards, having previously served as a minister of religion. Pieter’s talent and passion for painting led him to travel extensively, including visits to Europe and America, where he painted and sold numerous works. Pieter was passionate about his faith and his country, and readily shared his knowledge and life experience with all around him. Pieter died in January of 2017 at the age of 80 after he fell and went into a coma.
